Beta Development Log

A running record of the Avalonia beta work behind Neon MultiStream Chat. This is the native client track; the stable Electron release remains the public download while private testing continues.

Beta downloads are currently password-protected

Avalonia beta 0.1.12 — Velora polling fix

The latest Windows beta keeps Velora history polling alive when message authors have display names that are not valid channel slugs.

  • Fixed optional Velora profile-badge enrichment so invalid author display names cannot interrupt channel polling.
  • Kept strict validation for the actual Velora channel input while treating profile badge lookup as non-fatal.
  • Published a new self-contained Windows x64 executable for beta version 0.1.12.
  • Verified the build with the emote regression suite; the protected beta download remains available through the 0.1.12 manifest.

Avalonia beta 0.1.11 — compact chat and emote fixes

The current beta improves the native chat flow, restores message metadata, and adds platform emote handling and regression coverage.

  • Reworked Avalonia chat messages into a compact, naturally wrapping flow so platform icons, badges, usernames, channel labels, text, links, and emotes remain together without unnecessary empty rows or gaps.
  • Restored metadata bindings for usernames, platform indicators, subscriber, moderator, VIP, and other chat badges.
  • Preserved repeated and adjacent emotes in their original message order, including mixed text/emote messages and media-only messages.
  • Normalized Twitch IRC ACTION messages and improved positional media matching so emote tokens are consumed without duplicate literal text.
  • Added Kick emote parsing for [emote:<id>:<name>] markers, including adjacent, repeated, mixed, and malformed-marker handling.
  • Added layout and regression coverage for plain text, long announcements, narrow compact windows, repeated emotes, mixed content, Unicode text, metadata/badge bindings, and Kick emotes.
  • Verified the beta with a release build and the emote/layout suite under a virtual display. The actual Kick Bwop asset decoded at 70x70 and adjacent emotes rendered successfully.
  • Published the Windows x64 self-contained single-file beta executable for version 0.1.11.

Avalonia beta 0.1.10

The next restricted beta build updates the desktop identity and adds clearer NeonLogin account controls.

  • Replaced the header placeholder mark with the Neon Multi Chat artwork used by the beta branding.
  • Added a Sign out button at the top of the Account section.
  • Signing out disconnects active beta chat connectors, clears the in-memory NeonLogin session, and removes the locally persisted session file.
  • Published the Windows x64 self-contained beta executable and advanced the beta update manifest to version 0.1.10.

Restricted beta checkpoint

The Avalonia beta is being kept password-protected while the native client is hardened before public beta access.

  • Stable Neon MultiStream remains the public download path while the Avalonia build is tested privately.
  • The beta now has its own preview image, release channel metadata, update path, and development log.
  • The existing download protection remains in place; beta access will be announced separately when it opens.

Native chat workspace

Built the shared Avalonia desktop foundation for a dense, readable multistream chat workspace.

  • Added the Neon Avalonia shell, combined chat workspace, platform indicators, connection notices, and clear-chat action.
  • Added a resizable Platforms sidebar with a remembered expanded width and preserved collapse/expand behavior.
  • Added account, NeonLogin, update, beta-version, and update-state presentation without changing the existing commands.
  • Added newest-message auto-follow that yields when the user intentionally scrolls through chat.

Platform chat and account services

Connected the Avalonia client to the existing NeonLogin and connector service boundary.

  • Integrated Twitch, YouTube Live, Kick, and Velora connection states through the existing services.
  • Preserved read-only chat when Twitch write permission is unavailable and added a reconnect path for missing chat scope.
  • Added user-card groundwork for available platform profile, role, follow, and subscription information.
  • Kept raw connector diagnostics available for debugging while presenting human-readable notices to users.

Badges, emotes, and rich chat content

Ported the production behavior needed for platform-specific identity and message content.

  • Twitch badge artwork resolves from the platform badge set and version metadata with cached image loading.
  • Velora badge data and its production asset path are being exercised through the shared message boundary; Velora badge coverage remains under private testing.
  • Velora’s eligible subscription and entitled badges support the production-style rotating badge presentation.
  • Native Twitch, Velora, 7TV, BetterTTV, and FrankerFaceZ emote assets can flow through the shared inline message renderer.
  • Static and animated emotes, mixed text and emotes, GIF/media content, and clickable links are rendered as structured content instead of leaked markup.
  • OBS overlay content uses the same structured text/media segments rather than displaying serialized HTML or image tags.

OBS overlay foundation

Added the native overlay direction needed for OBS/browser-source use while keeping the main chat renderer separate.

  • Added a local overlay server and browser-source endpoint for overlay rendering and live updates.
  • Kept overlay messages structured so plain text, links, emotes, animated media, badges, and platform metadata remain available to the renderer.
  • Preserved the Neon overlay presentation direction while the movable, transparent overlay controls continue through private beta development.
